Christmas came and went so quickly this year! I blinked and it was over!
We just got home yesterday from being in Raleigh, North Carolina with family for three days, and before that we had my husband’s parents at our house for two days!
Since getting home, I’ve been cleaning up the dried greenery around the house, running our little roomba vacuum and trying to catch up on laundry. (Also, our hamster went missing while we were gone so we’re trying to find our sweet Peaches, too!)
Even thought Christmas is normally “the most wonderful time of the year” for me, I’ve found myself in and out of stress all month. It’s supposed to be a fun time with family, making amazing memories to “last a lifetime!” But instead it has been overwhelming this year, juggling work, kids in school, kids out of school, cleaning the house for family to be here then packing to go out of town, making sure all gifts are bought (within budget) and wrapped, and everything tied with a pretty bow! (Thankfully my mom made our traditional sugar cookies for the kids to decorate because I didn’t even get to it this year!)
So today I made myself take some deep breaths! I have my “Be Held” CD on repeat, my vetiver oils going strong (for focus) and took time to read today’s devotion from Karen Stubb’s “Moments With God for Moms.”
“We try to make this world perfect, but we’re fighting a losing battle…it’s okay to ask God to take away our [stressful] circumstances…if God is allowing you to go through something [stressful], then he will get you through it!”
What an amazing reminder that God is with us and will carry us through!
I pray that we will all feel the peace of God as this season winds down, and for His strength to carry us through in to the New Year of hope and possibilities!
Also, I thought you’d enjoy this fun family session I took of the King family back in November at the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Gardens! The day was gorgeous and their son, Will, was a trip to photograph once again!
